About the artist

Juliana de Andrade Schnell is a self-taught artist.

She was raised multiculturally by a Brazilian mother and German father, moving throughout countries in Africa, Middle East, South America and Europe in her upbringing.

She connects different mediums to achieve an ethereal and fluid, sensual aesthetic in her artworks.

The softness and sensuality of the feminine essence profoundly captivate and inspire Juliana, recurring as a main theme throughout her work.

As she herself experiences and perceives life through the female form, she expresses her ‘being’ through figurative art as a depiction of her own human experience in feminine nature, and the vast layers of sensations it withholds.

I strive to evoke feelings of soft intriguing-, tender- and escapist nature and bring the observer into an ethereal realm.

In my paintings, elements in the form of abstract shapes and colours, usually in the form of nature hint at an essence of an otherworldly presence interacting with the figures. This is to remind us of the interconnectedness of all things and how the universe is always speaking with us and flowing through us.
